QTAAPI Cultural Festival
Throughout 2021, the Queer and Trans Asian American and Pacific Islander (QTAAPI) community is partnering with the Capital Pride Alliance to showcase the vibrant and diverse AAPI community and culture in the Washington metropolitan area. For June’s Pride Month, the QTAAPI programming committee launched an online art showcase, highlighting local Trans and Queer AAPI artists and their works.
In continuation of this celebration, the committee will continue uplifting local QTAAPI talent and culture at Colorful Fest. See the Entertainment section below for details.
We welcome you in celebration of all the ways our community shows PRIDE.

Health & Safety
The Capital Pride Alliance is actively monitoring the incidence of COVID-19 in our region. If you are sick or feel that you are getting sick, we ask that you please stay home. Older adults and persons with underlying health conditions are considered to be at increased risk of severe illness and complications from COVID-19. Examples of underlying health conditions include heart disease, lung disease, diabetes, people with weakened immune systems, and people who are pregnant. The CDC recommends that people in high-risk groups consult with their healthcare providers about attending large gatherings. Facemasks will not be required during these outdoor events; however, only individuals with proof of vaccination may enter the Colorful Fest Block Party. Capital Pride Alliance staff, volunteers, performers, and vendors are required to show proof of vaccination to participate in the event.
Please keep in mind the CDC recommendations on how to keep yourself and others healthy:
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol if soap and water are not available.
