The Capital Pride Alliance (CPA) extends a heartfelt thank you to the hundreds of thousands LGBTQ+ community members and allies who joined us in celebrating love, diversity, equity, and equality during the Capital Pride 2024 Celebration. Your unwavering support and participation are what make these celebrations a true reflection of our community’s spirit and resilience, and why Washington, DC is so special.
Throughout the weekend, we witnessed the powerful solidarity and vibrant energy that defines this year’s theme, “Totally Radical,” which pays homage to the activism and progress of the 1980s and ‘90s. We strive to cultivate inclusivity and positivity within our vast and diverse community, as we come together to celebrate ourselves, advocate for our rights, and inspire each other with our stories as foster a safe and welcoming space for all. Here are just a few testimonies that we would like to share:
“Congrats and Happy Pride! What a wonderful Capital Pride 2024 weekend. So many smiling faces and everyone celebrating as one proud family. My favorite moments included walking the parade route alongside the Hargrove float and seeing the look of enjoyment and ‘being seen’ on kids’ faces.”
“My children thoroughly enjoyed the Family Day activities that you all provided at Stead Park, especially the drag story hour! We appreciate you for creating affirming and safe spaces for folks of all ages. LGBTQ+ families thank you!”

We express our sincere appreciation to our volunteers, staff, and Board members, who spend countless hours of unwavering dedication throughout the year to #HavePride365 and make Capital Pride 2024 a significant and meaningful experience for all.
Thank you to our Presidential Advocates Love Travels by Marriott Bonvoy for presenting the Parade, Amazon for presenting the Festival, and our Concert Presenters Hot 99.5/PRIDE Radio, and DARCARS. We also want to thank the Mayor’s Special Event Task Group for their agency support this year. An event of this magnitude requires a great deal of planning, coordination, and infrastructure.
Reflecting on the successes of this year, we eagerly anticipate hosting WorldPride in conjunction with our 50th Anniversary in 2025. This global event represents a unique opportunity to further showcase the rich diversity and strength of our community on an international stage. We are excited to welcome visitors from around the world and to celebrate our collective progress towards equality and human rights on one of the world’s largest stages.
Thank you once again for your support and participation. Together, we’ll keep championing the values that unite us and make each year’s celebration more fabulous than the last. With your continued involvement, we know every year will be even more vibrant and joyous than the last.
