Giovanni Rocco

Giovanni has called Washington D.C. home since 2017 and joined the Board of Capital Pride Alliance in 2021. In his professional capacity, he serves as Press Secretary and Spokesperson at the U.S. Department of the Interior. He helps coordinate and implement communications strategies on a variety of priorities for the Biden-Harris administration, including tackling the climate crisis, developing a clean energy economy, conserving America’s lands and waters, investing in the nation’s infrastructure, and advancing environmental justice. Previously, he served as Regional Press Secretary with Biden for President North Carolina where he designed and executed earned media relations strategies for a variety of media markets and directed Spanish-language media operations. Before joining Biden for President, he worked at the Washington Center for Equitable Growth crafting messaging for a diverse economic policy portfolio and the Center for American Progress where he uplifted the voices of young leaders across the nation in local and national media.

Giovanni immigrated to the United States from Chile with his family at the age of nine. He holds a bachelor’s in media studies and a bachelor’s in political science from Florida State University.
