The Cemetery Speaker Series, LGBTQ+ Pride and History event on Leonard Matlovich
We have amazing LGBTQ+ history at the cemetery, including many founders and advocates of the modern gay rights movement. In June, our event will focus on the legacy of Vietnam veteran Leonard Matlovich, who courageously challenged the military’s ban on gay service members. Before he died due to complication of AIDS, he designed his grave as monument to all gay veterans and his example led to the creation of the cemetery’s LGBTQ+ section. The speaker, Micheal Bedwell, is someone who knew Matlovich quite well.
