Ryan Bos
(He, Him, His) - Executive Director
Ryan has served as the Executive Director of the Capital Pride Alliance (CPA) since the Fall of 2011. CPA’s annual Pride Celebration has since become a major destination Pride, attracting visitors from all over the world, its programming and services have expanded to support the LGBTQ+ community throughout the entire year, and its operations and programming budget has more than tripled, surpassing $3 million in 2019. He is an active member of InterPride, attending every AGM and World Conference since 2012, has attended two WorldPride events, and successfully brought the 2017 joint regional conference, NERP/POSE, to Washington, DC. He is an active volunteer, who has served on the board of Team DC, an LGBTQ+ sports association, as both President and Vice-President, participated on two Gay Games bid teams, and is a board member of Party For A Purpose, a non-profit that raises money for local youth organizations.
For the previous 15 years before joining CPA, Ryan had worked in higher education at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC), handling residential life issues and supporting student leadership. He received his master’s in higher education at Ball State University (BSU), where he successfully let a bid and was conference director for the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (NACURH) 1997 annual conference. Back in his hometown of Michigan City, Indiana, he was the founder and Race Director for the annual Tower Run, a trail and road race, for over twenty years. Ryan has lived in the Washington, D.C. area since 1998, and is an avid runner, activist, and educator.
