Join Capital Pride and Busboys and Poets for the annual Night of Queer Expression FULL-STORE pride event.
This space is open to ALL, we welcome all gender identities and especially encourage our transwomen and cis-women community to share their words on the mic. Audience members can expect a diverse chorus of voices, and an array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, and more!

*For fair accessibility, we ask that the lower ticket prices are reserved for those that are most in need in our community.
*All proceeds will go to the Capital Pride Alliance and the Pride365 Fund to help us continue programming all year.

Charity Blackwell is a Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) practitioner, spoken word artist, host, emcee, and poetry specialist who has spent several years contributing to the arts scene in DC and across national platforms. She is a Trinity University graduate, where she received her B.A and M.A in Communications. She also holds a certificate in Executive Leadership for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion from Georgetown University. She is the Senior Advisor of Arts and Culture at DC SCORES and the D.O.P.E (Director of Poetry Events) at Busboys and Poets. She has performed her original work on international networks and platforms including BBC News, TEDxTysons, DC UNITED, The Kennedy Center, and numerous stages across Washington D.C. and the East Coast.
About DJ Diyanna Monet
Hailing from the Nation’s Capital, Diyanna Monet is a multi-faceted artist creating beats for your cypher gatherings, rush hour trips, and all dance-related explorations.
About Carlynn Newhouse
Carlynn Newhouse (she/her) is a poet, host, performer, and educator. She is a National YoungArts Finalist, the only 3-time Youth Speaks Seattle Grand Slam Champion and ranked 4th in the 2020 Women of the World Poetry Slam. Originally from Seattle, she currently practices in Washington D.C. where she obtained her Bachelors of Science from Howard University, a pursuit funded through the Adobe Creativity Scholarship. Her work has been featured on platforms such as Button Poetry, The Seattle Globalist, the Kennedy Center, and more. Carlynn believes poetry is a form of activism and tool for raising awareness in hopes of making the world a safer space.
About Kenneth Something
Kenneth Something is a poet, educator and organizer however they are best described as an “artivist”. Kenneth is the former executive director of DewMore Baltimore and the former executive director of Pride Center of Maryland. He is many things but it can be summed up as a 2x National poetry slam champion and a lover of all things art.
About Blaq Dinamyte
A DC native & performer for more than 10 years. He has done it all from musical theater to boilesque to drag, and everything in between.
