Candle Light Vigil for Star Jasmin Parker
On January 07, 2023 the Transgender Community condemned the murder of Star Parker, a 32-year old transgender woman who was brutally stabbed to death in the 2005 Block of Gallaudet Street NE, Washington D.C. Jasmin, has been added to a list of other unsolved transgender murders. RIP all of our sisters.
The Transgender Community and the Mayor’s Office of LBGTQ Affairs along with other local LGBTQ organizations will have a candle light vigil. This will take place as follows:
Date: Monday January 16, 2023
Location: 2005 Galluadet Street NE, Washington, D.C. 20002
Time: 3:30pm
Please bring balloons and the colors are pink and white
We are also looking forward to having serious discussions with the Mayor’s Office, MPD, DC officials and organizations about working together to build and assure that there are resources in place to help transgender women who find themselves in survival mode and seeking help. We are hopeful for Star’s and the other transgender women murdered in DC that their memories are not in vain. Please bring back the many cold cases of transgender women murdered and let’s say their names.
