Home Rule Music Festival at The Parks
The Home Rule Music Festival is a family-friendly event focused on the music and culture of Washington, DC. On Saturday, June 22, Gary Bartz, Idriss Ackamoore and The Pyramids, Rare Essence, Black Alley, Vanessa Rubin, Dupont Brass Band, and the Malcolm X Drummers and Dancers will perform at The Parks at Walter Reed beginning at Noon. These legendary jazz artists and musicians will enliven the Great Lawn, with a plethora of fun activities including a record fair, local food trucks, craft beverages, and mural painting, and designated kids zone will make for a full afternoon as attendees enjoy electrifying live music from both legendary and emerging jazz and go-go artists.
General admission for the festival on June 22 and July 20 is free. A limited number of VIP tickets are also available and includes complimentary meals and drinks from local vendors; meet-and-greet opportunities with the renowned musicians; and reserved stage front visibility. The Home Rule Music Festival is produced by the Home Rule Music and Film Preservation Foundation, a DC-based nonprofit 501(c)3 multi-media arts and education organization with a mission to promote, support and preserve DC music and film through performance, education, and advocacy.
Location: The Great Lawn at The Parks at Walter Reed – Map 1010 Butternut Street NW, and enter from Dahlia, Elder, Aspen, Butternut or 16th Street NW. Biking, walking, and rideshare are recommended, as parking is limited.
