This will be another historic year for the LGBTQ+ community, with a major civil rights decision to be handed down by the Supreme Court, legislative attacks in dozens of states across the country and a critical election in November.

“This year’s campaign theme, #StillWe, is a powerful statement about the resilience, resistance, unity and pride that exist within our community,” said Ryan Bos, CPA Executive Director. “This theme honors the battles that have paved the way for the progress we now enjoy while acknowledging the tremendous work still left to do,” Bos continued. “With the adversity facing so many members of the LGBTQ+ community in mind, we will come together to support each other, show our love of community and unite in resistance against those who would deny us equality and dignity,” concluded Bos.

“We are proud of what this theme represents to the LGBTQ+ community and encourage everyone to share the ways in which they believe we can take action continue the journey to respect, acceptance and full equality,” said Ashley Smith, President of the Board of Directors of the CPA. “The graphic representation of the theme is a symbol of inclusion with the colors of the traditional Pride rainbow flag, the trans pride flag and the black and brown stipes to represent the intersections that exist with the LGBTQ+ community, including sexual orientation, gender identity, and race,” continued Smith.

“We look forward to the LGBTQ+ community and our allies participating in the many diverse Pride events offered in the Nation’s Capital, from Youth Pride, Silver Pride, Capital Trans Pride, DC Black Pride, DC Latinx Pride, DC Leather Pride and API Pride,” concluded Bos.
