Anthony Gutierrez
(He/Him)
Anthony Gutierrez has been with Gilead Sciences since June 2019, serving as the Community Liaison for the DC and Virginia area. Although new to the area, Anthony has made great strides in the region and already seen as a leader in the field, demonstrated by his upcoming appointment to the Washington, DC Regional Planning Commission on Health and HIV. His influence and impact span across health departments, university health systems, large federally-qualified health centers, as well as local community-based organizations, and black churches.
Anthony comes to Gilead with over 13 years of accomplishments working in the HIV field—with a passion focused on serving marginalized communities. He began his career at the Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center, then continued his pursuits at the Black AIDS Institute, afterwards relocating to the Midwest to serve at Chicago House Social Service Agency as their Senior Program Director, and lastly transitioning to Metro Inclusive Health in the Florida, Tampa Bay Area where he was the agency’s first Vice President of HIV Programs to oversee the entire HIV programs portfolio.
A native of Dallas, Texas, and of Mexican-American descent, Anthony is the first of his family to achieve higher-level education. He obtained a Bachelor’s in Political Science from Stanford University in Palo Alto, California (and currently serves there on the Stanford Pride Board) and a Masters in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University in Los Angeles, California. He identifies as a proud gay man who had the esteemed privilege of marrying his soul-mate, Kaelan, in November 2017. Since then, their family has extended to include Galileo, a rescue dog, and Hermione, a kitten.
