The Capital Pride Alliance applauds the Repeal of the Ban Placed on Transgender Americans

The Capital Pride Alliance applauds President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris for doing the right thing and repealing the ban that had been placed on Transgender Americans from serving in the military. The ability to serve is no different for Transgender servicemembers than it is for anyone else; thus, this repeal will help our country move forward. The Department of Defense is the largest employer of Transgender Americans. When this ban went into effect in 2019, it was detrimental not only to members of the Transgender community but our entire country. Decisions that foster a more just and inclusive society benefit all Americans because we are able to lead from a place of hope and strength rather than fear.
